Thrive
Welcome to Thrive at Walliscote
At Walliscote Primary we are passionate and committed to supporting the social and emotional development of all children and families in our school community.
Meet our Thrive practitioner, Miss Oriole Harris
What is the Thrive approach?
Children cannot always put their needs into words, but the way children behave can tell us a lot about how they are feeling. We believe that all behaviour is communication and that communication needs to be understood and supported.
The Thrive Approach draws on latest scientific neuroscience research, and attachment research, alongside current studies of effective learning and child development. Thrive is not just an intervention for just a few children, but a whole-school approach. Children who need that little bit of extra help.
Why do we need Thrive?
The Thrive approach gives support to children's emotional and social learning and development
Unfortunately, like all of us at some point in our lives, children may face challenges, that can knock them off track.
Thrive provides that extra support. Many children will respond to the care, understanding and support given by parents, family, friends and teachers. However, some children need a little bit extra.
Who gets thrive?
Everyone! Though they might not realise it. All of our pupils have access to regular class-based Thrive activities through our PSHE curriculum.
Some children have an individual Thrive Action Plan with activities tailored to support a child’s social and emotional learning development.
