Supporting Children's Mental Health here at Walliscote

Introducing our new Education Mental Health Practitioner

We are pleased to welcome Sarah Odling to Walliscote Primary School as our new allocated Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP).

Sarah will be coming from the North Somerset Mental Health Support Team (MHST) to work at our school on Mondays. Her role will compliment the existing mental health and wellbeing provision already in place at the school.

Sarah will be working alongside our Mental Health Lead, Miss Harris, to support a 'whole school approach' to mental health and wellbeing. This may include delivering workshops and assemblies to students and/or parents and carers on wellbeing-related topics, such as friendships, transitions and emotion regulation.

Sarah can also offer direct support to students with mild-to-moderate mental health needs (for example fears/worries/anxiety, or common behaviour concerns) through evidence-based 1-to-1 or group sessions. This may involve working with just the students, and/or with their parents and carers as well.

Sarah will be running parent/carer coffee afternoons in school (Sunshine Room) on the following dates:

    • Monday 15th July -  2.30-3.15pm

Mrs Judy Holden will also be supporting.
