Dear Parents/Carers World Book Day – Even though it was snowing and bitterly cold, we have to say a huge well done for those children that came to school dressed as a cartoon character to support World Book Day! Because we know how many of you made such an effort to dress up for our annual book celebrations and also because the book shop were so looking forward to seeing us all, we will be moving our celebrations to this Thursday coming, the 8th of March.
I am writing to you to remind you about some exciting news that will support reading across our school. Please come and share in your child’s reading, from Wednesday 7th March we are opening our doors early across the school for you to come and read alongside your child from 3pm. So if you are waiting in the school playground or if you are able to come into school a bit early we would love to see you. This Wednesday and every Wednesday after. Please also remember to complete your child’s reading log to show that you have shared some reading material with them, this is one of the most valuable ways to support your child’s reading development and to encourage a love of books at home. The expectation is at least three times a week. All children who read (or share a book) with an adult three times a week will be able to gain a reading sticker and we will be sharing the percentage of children who read at home at least three times a week in school and on our school website. Thank you for your continued support with developing reading - it really does make a difference!
